The staff of the Embassy of Lithuania in Israel expresses its deepest condolences on the death of the first Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Romualdas Jonas Misiūnas.


On October 13th, Lithuanian ambassador to Israel Lina Antanavičienė took part in a ceremony in Jerusalem, dedicated to the commemoration of prominent Japanese diplomat, the Righteous Among Nations, Mr. Chiune Sugihara, who during the IIWW was saving Jews, fleeing from Nazi atrocities.


On October 12th, Lithuanian ambassador to Israel, together with other representatives of the mission, visited 10th Annual Conference of „Jerusalem Post“ – one of the biggest daily outlets of Israeli media.


On October 12th Lithuanian ambassador to Israel met with Israeli Knesset Speaker, Hon. Mickey Levy. During the meeting, parties discussed perspectives of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of the high level visits.

On October 5th Lithuanian ambassador to Israel L. Antanavičienė, together with other representatives of the Embassy, paid a visit to Yad Vashem memorial, where a ceremony dedicated to a memory of perished Lithuanian Jews, victims of Holocaust, took place.

Commemorating the Lithuanian Jewish Genocide Day and the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust in Lithuania, the Seimas called on the country's municipalities to perpetuate all mass murder sites, to put old Jewish cemeteries to order, and to set up appropriate direction signs and interpretive displays. The Seimas also invited Lithuanian municipalities to name streets, squares and schools of their cities after the Righteous among the Nations.

On September 23rd, Lithuanian ambassador to Israel H.E. Lina Antanavičienė honored the memory of Lithuanian Jews massacred during Holocaust by lighting up the candles by the memorials in Tel Aviv cemeteries of „Kiryat Shaul“ and „Nahalat Yitzhak“.


It was with great sadness that I walked this ‘Memory Road’. For me, the tragedy of the Holocaust has never been a mere abstraction but a very painful realisation that hatred towards the other–someone different from ourselves – can become like a volcanic lava sweeping away and incinerating everything in its path.


On 22 June Mr Shai Schnitzer was granted the exequatur from the government of Israel, marking the start of his appointment as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in the city of Netanya with the consular jurisdiction over the Central and Northern districts of Israel.


Speech by the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė at the conference „A Divisive Past:  The Soviet-German War and Narratives of Mass Violence in East Central Europe”.

The conference was dedicated to the memory of the recently deceased Literature Professor Irena Veisaitė.

‘What helped me keep moving forward after I managed to miraculously survive the war, was my resolute desire to tell the world what really happened. However, it seemed that no one was willing to hear about the horrific experience that I and other people had to go through. And thus bringing up the subject was completely pointless’, said survivor of the Holocaust, Professor Irena Veisaitė, in whose memory this conference is dedicated, in a book co-authored with historian Aurimas Švedas.

We are happy to inform that persons arriving from Israel - citizens of the State of Israel and citizens of other countries, legally residing in Israel*, may enter Lithuania according to the following conditions (updated on 27 September, 2021):

Bearing in mind the incident of 23 May, when a Ryanair passenger plane flying from Athens to Vilnius was forced to land, thus posing risks to the security and a threat to the lives of civilians, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly recommends Lithuanian citizens against all travel to the Republic of Belarus and urges all Lithuanian citizens in Republic of Belarus to leave the country.
