25th anniversary of the Freedom Defenders‘ Day of Lithuania commemorated in Tel Aviv

On January 13th, 2015 Embassy of Lithuania in Israel together with the Lithuanian community in Israel as well as representatives of Litvaks‘ community commemorated Freedom Defenders‘ Day of Lithuania. January 13 in Lithuania is commemorated as Freedom Defenders' Day to remember those who died during the Soviet army's actions in Vilnius on Jan. 13 1991.
In his speech ambassador of Lithuania in Israel Mr Edminas Bagdonas has stressed the importance of Freedom Defenders‘ Day for the Lithuanian state. There was a minute of silence observed in order to respect those who lost their lives defending freedom of Lithuania 25 years ago.
During the commemoration event film devoted to the tragic events of January 13 in Vilnius was screened.
