Lithuanian passport and ID card

Passport of the Republic of Lithuania is a document issued to citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, confirming personal identity and is valid for traveling abroad.

Passports of the Republic of Lithuania are valid:

  • 10 years from the date of issue for adult citizens and individuals over 16 years
  • 5 years for children between 5 and 16 years of age
  • 2 years for children below the age of 5 years

Passports issued before 2 January 2008 will remain valid until their date of expiry.

Where and how to apply for the passport and/or ID card of the Republic of Lithuania?

What documents should be submitted to the Embassy?

  • Valid available Israeli passport (in order to issue first Lithuanian passport);
  • Current Lithuanian passport (in order to issue a new Lithuanian passport and/or ID card);
  • Consular fee;
  • Photos of adults and children above the age of 2 years old are taken at the Embassy.

IMPORTANT:

Citizen of the Republic of Lithuania for the issuance/replacement of the passport and/or ID card at diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Lithuania or at the migration sections of the local police office in Lithuania must apply personally because of mandatory fingerprinting. Individuals under 16 years of age must be accompanied by one of the parents or legal guardian, who must present a Lithuanian passport. Children older than 2 years must be present at the consular reception.

Diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Lithuania can issue/renew passports and/or ID cards within two months after individual residing abroad personally submits the application at the diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Lithuania of his/her choice.

For the issuance/renewal of the passport and/or ID card at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to State of Israel citizens of the Republic of Lithuania have to register for consular reception at E-REGISTRATION.

The citizen of the Republic of Lithuania, who lost his/her passport, has an expired travel document or has no valid travel document; in order to return to Lithuania urgently should apply for a temporary travel document – repatriation certificate at any diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Lithuania.

Consular fees for the issuance/replacement of the passport and/or ID card at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Israel:

  • For the issuance/renewal of passport  – 100 EUR;
  • For the issuance/renewal of ID card  – 100 EUR;
  • For the issuance/renewal of passport to individuals under 18 years of age – 50 EUR;
  • For the issuance/renewal of passport to individuals of retirement age – 50 EUR;
  • For the issuance/ renewal of ID card in case application to issue or replace the passport is submitted at the same time – 50 EUR.

Payment for consular services at the Embassy of Lithuania to the State of Israel is accepted by Visa and MasterCard only.

Collection of a passport and/or ID card at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Israel:

  • Citizens over 18 years of age must come personally during the consular reception hours any working day (Monday to Thursday) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., to collect their first or renewed passport and/or ID card. Individual who is collecting his/her first Lithuanian passport and/or ID card must bring his/her valid Israeli passport. Individual who is collecting his/her new Lithuanian passport and/or ID card must bring his/her old Lithuanian passport and/or ID card to the Embassy for marking the old passport and/or ID card as an invalid document. Individuals between 16-18 years of age have an option to collect their passports and/or ID cards personally or it could be collected by one of their parents or legal guardians.
  • The first and renewed passports and/or ID cards of individuals under age of 16 must be collected by one of their parents or legal guardians who must present his/her own passport and his/her child’s Israeli passport or old Lithuanian passport and/or ID card for marking the old passport and/or ID card as an invalid document.
  • The passport and/or ID cards may be collected up by a person with the power of attorney, certified with Apostille, and his/her valid passport (indicated in detail in the power of attorney) or by a reliable currier company. Once we inform you that your passport and/or ID card is ready, you will have to contact the currier company, pay for their services and arrange the pickup during the consular reception hours.
