A TRIBUTE PAID TO THE MEMORY OF THE FORMER ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO LITHUANIA CHEN IVRI APTER

On 14 November 2013, the commemoration event, dedicated to pay a tribute to the memory of the former Israeli Ambassador to Lithuania Chen Ivri Apter (1958-2012), took place in Petah Tikva.

The ceremony to commemorate one year since the death of Ambassador Chen Ivri Apter was organized by his spouse Dalia and took place at the school of “Young Ambassadors”, which gathers the high school students to learn about diplomacy and political science. On 14 November 2013, the school of “Young Ambassadors” was awarded with the name of Ambassador Chen Ivri Apter.

Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon, United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Robert Seri, other high officials participated in the commemoration event.

Ambassador of Lithuania Darius Degutis and Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Jewish Community Faina Kukliansky also took part at the event.

During the event the distinguished guests expressed their appreciation for Ambassador’s diplomatic work and his contribution to the positive development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel. The distinguished guests also positively evaluated current bilateral Israeli-Lithuanian relations.

Chen Ivri Apter served as Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania from 2006 to 2010.
