AMBASSADOR D.DEGUTIS PARTICIPATED IN SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF DIPLOMACY IN ADDRESSING ANTI-SEMITISM
On 19 January 2009 Ambassador Darius Degutis participated in the seminar „Remembering Wallenberg: The Role of Diplomacy in Addressing Anti-Semitism“, which was organized by The Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism of Tel Aviv University and The American Jewish Committee.
Keynote address was made by Rabbi Andrew Baker, Representative of the OSCE on Combating Anti-Semitism. Seminar was chaired by prof. Dina Porat, Head of the Stephen Roth Institute.
During the discussions participants shared the views about role of diplomacy role in fighting expressions of Anti-Semitism.
Ambassador D.Degutis presented educational programs on the issue of Holocaust which are being implemented in Lithuania. D.Degutis also emphasized that fighting Anti-Semitism it is very important to spread information about Israel’s achievements in culture, science and technologies, as well as about unique tourism attractions in Israel.
