An evening honoring Nechama Lifshitz in Tel Aviv

Last Thursday the Einav Culture Center in Tel Aviv was filled with Yiddish songs and stories about Kaunas-born Nehama Lifshitz – one of the world‘s greatest Yiddish singers and "The Nightingale of the Jewry of Silence", who has sadly left us earlier this year.

The event was organized by the Association of Jews from Vilnius and its vicinity, in cooperation with Tel Aviv Municipality, the National Authority for Yiddish and Beit Shalom Aleichem. The evening was attended by singer‘s family, students and admirers, including the ambassador Edminas Bagdonas and cultural attaché Elena Keidošiūtė. The guests were greeted by the minister of Defense Avigdor Lieberman and the mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Huldai.
