An event in the memory of Jan Zwartendijk

An unforgettable evening was organized on 1 of May at  "Beit Vilna" in the memory of the Righteous Among the Nations, Mr. Jan Zwartendijk, a Dutch diplomat who resided in Lithuania at the beginning of WWII, and heroically saved many Lithuanian Jews from a certain death.

At the joint event of the Assocciation of Jews from Vilnius and the Vicinity, the Netherlands and Lithuanian embassies in Israel, together with US and Japanese diplomats, representatives of Yad Vahsem memorial complex, the parcipants listened to Jan Zwartendijk's son, who told his father's unique story and to the testimony of Holocaust survivor Mr. Berl Schor, to whom Jan Zwartendijk issued one of his "life visas".
