At the invitation of H.E. Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, Ambassador Audrius Brūzga attended on December 19, 2023 in Jerusalem the annual New Year‘s reception for the Diplomatic Corps.
Against the background of the ongoing war with the Hamas terror group, President Herzog thanked Heads of Mission for solidarity and urged their governments to demand the unconditional release of all of the remaining hostages. The President used the opportunity to brief foreign diplomats on the preparedness of the Israeli agencies to provide humanitarian assistance to the Gaza residents. He made it clear that the Israeli Defence Forces in the pursuit of their objectives to rescue hostages and eliminate Hamas, were acting in compliance with the International Law and were doing everything in their power to safe innocent civilian lives.
Ambassador Brūzga passed on to President Herzog greetings from President Nausėda of Lithuania and recalled an earlier invitation for him to travel to Vilnius in the year 2024.
