BILATERAL COOPERATION DISCUSSED IN THE LITHUANIAN-ISRAELI POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS IN JERUSALEM
On 25 February 2014 political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Israel and Lithuania took place in Jerusalem. During the consultations, the Director of the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department Ina Marčiulionytė met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel Zeev Elkin and the Deputy Director General for Europe Rafael Schutz.
During the consultations, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Israel, relations of Israel and the EU, security situation in the region, Middle East peace process, and cooperation in the international organizations. The representatives of the Lithuanian and Israeli foreign ministries described bilateral relations between the two states as very good, noting the growing volume of trade and tourism. In addition, the Israeli representatives congratulated Lithuania on becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and expressed their appreciation for the Lithuanian contribution to development of the EU relations with Israel during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Lithuanian and Israeli political consultations are held every year, the following political consultations shall be held in Vilnius.
