Commemoration of the Day of the Genocide of Lithuanian Jews at Yad Vashem memorial

On October 5th Lithuanian ambassador to Israel L. Antanavičienė, together with other representatives of the Embassy, paid a visit to Yad Vashem memorial, where a ceremony dedicated to a memory of perished Lithuanian Jews, victims of Holocaust, took place.

In her speech ambassador called this tragedy of Lithuanian Jewry as one of the most painful pages in Lithuanian history and expressed hope that the memory of the victims will always be preserved and treasured – they will never be forgotten.

The ceremony was attended by a large group of local litvaks, members of „Beit Vilna“ and „Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel“, Holocaust survivors and other guests. It already became a tradition, that every autumn, a memorial ceremony dedicated to liquidation of Vilna Ghetto, takes place in Yad Vashem.
