Wednesday, July 23, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Edminas Bagdonas, Lithuanian ambassador to Israel.
During their meeting, the President underscored the importance of exploring new avenues of cooperation between Lithuania and Israel and maintaining the existing dynamic contacts with the Litvak community.
According to the President, recently the interest in expanding exports to Israel has significantly increased. In regard to new opportunities for Lithuanian businesses, Dalia Grybauskaitė put special emphasis on attracting investments and tourists from Israel to Lithuania. "As we develop economic cooperation, we also need to promote reciprocal investments and interaction in scientific research, innovation and high technologies," the President said.
Before his appointment to Israel, E. Bagdonas was presidential adviser, Lithuanian ambassador to Italy and Belarus. He started his diplomatic career in 1994 and held a number of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2012, he had served as Director of Eastern Neighborhood Policy Department.
