Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day
On Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day – Lithuanian diplomats paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust in ceremonies held across the country.
Ambassador Audrius Brūzga participated in the ceremony at Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery, at the memorial dedicated to the Lithuanian Jews. During his speech, Ambassador Brūzga emphasized: "It is imperative for every generation of us to hear and relive those stories. They are the stories of the triumph of humanity over barbarism, of good over evil, of living memory over oblivion."
Deputy Head of Mission Laimis Rubinskas took part in the commemoration at Kiryat Shaul cemetery and delivered a speech honoring the memory of those who perished.
Lithuanian diplomats also participated in the ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, as well as at the Scroll of Fire monument located in the Forest of the Martyrs.
