Important issues of bilateral Lithuanian-Israeli agenda discussed in Tel Aviv

On November 24th, Embassy of Lithuania in Israel together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the Conference “Lithuania and Israel: Past, Present, Future”.

The event took place at the Peres Center for Peace. In the first part of the Conference Executive director Mr Ronaldas Račinskas, of International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania, ambassador at large for relations with Jewish organizations and Communities Mr. Dainius Junevičius, Mr Robert van Voren, Vytautas Magnus University and Dr. Arkadi Zeltser from Yad Vashem presented the current situation regarding the commemoration of Holocaust victims in Lithuania and discussed the research analyzing the issues of Holocaust in Lithuania. The second part of the conference was devoted to the current activities of the Lithuanian Jewish Community. It was presented by its Chairwoman Ms. Faina Kukliansky. The third part of the event was dedicated to the principles and the most pressing questions regarding the reinstatement of the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania.  Acting director of Migration department of the Republic of Lithuania Ms Evelina Gudzinskaitė and Ms. Daiva Vežikauskaitė, senior advisor of Citizenship Matters Division presented the latest developments in that area.
