IN THE HISTORY OF BILATERAL RELATIONS THE FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE DELEGATION LED BY THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE OF LITHUANIA KAZYS STARKEVIČIUS IS TAKING PLACE IN ISRAEL
On May 16th, the Minister K. Starkevičius met with Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Orit Noked. During the warm conversation specific cooperation opportunities were discussed – opportunities of inviting the Israeli students for veterinary studies in Lithuania, development of livestock breeding in Lithuania along with Israeli specialists, increasing of Lithuanian food exports to Israel. Also, the opportunities of introduction of high-tech to the Lithuanian agricultural companies were discussed. The Minister K. Starkevičius passed the draft Bilateral Cooperation Agreement to the Israeli Minister of agriculture and rural development, and invited the colleague to visit Lithuania.
During his visit in Israel, K. Starkevičius attended the opening of international exhibition of agriculture “Agritech2012”, was introduced to Israel's achievements in the development of innovation and high-tech agriculture, and visited agricultural facilities and Specialized Agricultural Research Institute.
K. Starkevičius also met with Israeli Minister of Industry and Commerce. Besides, the Minister visited the Yad Vashem memorial and paid tribute to the Holocaust victims at the official ceremony. During the visit in Israel, the Minister is accompanied by the Lithuanian businessmen delegation.
