INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN LITHUANIA PRESENTED TO ISRAEL’S BUSINESS LEADERS

On 19 November 2013,  Lithuanian Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas, continuing his visit to Israel, met with the Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space Yaakov Perry. During the meeting, the bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in the field of research and development was discussed, as well as Lithuanian R&D and innovation achievements were presented. The Ministers discussed the forthcoming visit of Y. Perry to Lithuania in 2014.

On November 20 E. Gustas met with President of the Israeli Industrialists Confederation Zvi Oren. During the round-table discussion, which was attended by Israel’s business organizations and corporate executives, business and investment opportunities in Lithuania were presented. The participants of the round-table discussion  welcomed successful bilateral cooperation between the two countries – it was announced that in October Israel and Lithuania approved three joint bilateral projects in the field of research and development.

Minister E. Gustas  visited largest Israeli company TEVA. Biotech pharmaceutical company TEVA operates in 60 countries and employs about 50 thousand people, its sales in 2012 amounted to 20.3 billion U.S. dollars. TEVA is also the largest Israeli investor in Lithuania – its investment in Lithuania amounts up to 70 million euros. TEVA told the Minister about its activities and development plans in Lithuania.
