ISRAEL SEEKS TO DEVELOP COOPERATION WITH LITHUANIAN REGIONS

On 27 January 2014, at the invitation of one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Israel Michael Strauss, the CEO and founder of Israel's largest food industry corporate group “Strauss Group”, Ambassador of Lithuania in Israel Darius Degutis visited the cities of Akko and Nahariya, situated in the north of Israel.  

During the visit the Ambassador met with the mayor of the city of Akko Shimon Lankri, who expressed his great interest in the development of partnership with similar Lithuanian city. Akko is one of the oldest cities of Israel, its history dating back to the 15th century BC. Today Akko is one of the fastest developing cities, which successfully combines the modern industry and historical tourism.

Ambassador D. Degutis also got acquainted with the activities of M. Strauss foundation, supporting development of Akko, its children’s education, cultural and sports projects. The Ambassador also visited a unique kindergarten “Music that Counts”, where children are taught the basics of mathematics within exploration of music.
