ISRAELI MINISTER BENYAMIN BEN ELIEZER AND LITHUANIAN PRIME MINISTER ANDRIUS KUBILIUS DISCUSS HIGH-TECH COOPERATION POSSIBILITIES

Lithuania's Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius met with Israel's Minister for Industry, Trade and Labor Benyamin Ben Eliezer on Sunday and addressed possible cooperation in high technologies.
"The prime minister and the minister addressed possible ways of cooperation," said Kubilius' adviser Virgis Valentinavicius.
In his words, the Israeli minister emphasized that, regardless of the economic downturn, the country was "looking beyond the crisis figures." Valentinavicius said the possibility was also addressed to open a new phase in the economic relations between Lithuania and Israel.
"Israel has an advantage in the high-tech field and can bring to Lithuania whatever we may need. (This includes) agricultural, water purification operations and energy - this type of investments," the adviser added.
In his words, Kubilius spoke of the good infrastructure available in Lithuania, namely, one of the highest levels of mobile communication penetration and "good education, which prepares large numbers of specialists capable of working in the high-tech field."
Ben Eliezer and Lithuania's Economy Minister Dainius Kreivys also signed a governmental agreement on mutual cooperation of the private sector in fields of industrial research and experimental development.
On Sunday, the Lithuanian delegation started an official visit in Israel aimed to improve bilateral relations, get a closer look at the security situation in the Middle East and Israel, as well as search for investments in the high-tech sector.
Kubilius is expected back in Lithuania on Thursday.
