ISRAEL‘S GOVERNMENT HIGHLY APPRECIATES COOPERATION WITH LITHUANIA
On 7 January 2013 Minister of Public Affairs and Diaspora of Israel Yuli Edelstein in his meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador Darius Degutis highly praised positive cooperation between Lithuania and Israel. It was noted that during the period of 2009-2012 more than 20 high-level bilateral visits took place, economic relations developed steadily, trade and tourism in 2011 increased by more than 50%, direct regular flights between Tel Aviv and Vilnius began to operate. Y. Edelstein expressed his belief that a successful bilateral cooperation will continue after the forthcoming Knesset elections on 22 January 2013. It was acknowledged that Lithuania's Presidency of the EU Council in 2013 would significantly contribute to a further development of the partnership between the Israel and Lithuania.
