Jerusalem Design Week
Ambassador Edminas Bagdonas and Cultural Attache Elena Keidošiūtė visited International Jerusalem Design Week, which took over the city on June 8-15. For the first time this year Jerusalem Design Week included a separate contemporary Lithuanian design exhibition SUN&SHADOW, presenting more than 10 cases of how different geographical conditions influence daily life.
Lithuania is located in northern Europe, more than 2,800 km away from Israel. While people in Israel tend to try to hide in the shadows on hot days, Lithuanians put a lot of effort into getting as much sun as possible during the whole year. Different weather conditions influence different ways of living, making a huge impact on people’s moods, habits, architecture, etc. Design is one of the tools that can be used to bring in an element of optimism and solve problems connected with seasonal change. The exhibition was co-curated by the director of Lithuanian Design Forum Audronė Drungilaitė and Jerusalem Design Week's Chief Curator Tal Erez.
