LITHUANIA – ISRAEL COOPERATION IN THE TOURISM SECTOR CONTINUES TO EXPAND

On 10th February 2014 in Jerusalem Raimonda Balnienė, Director General of Lithuanian Tourism Department met with the Israel’s Minister of Tourism Uzi Landau. The Mayor of Birstonas Nijolė Dirginčienė and the Mayor of Trakai district municipality Vytautas Zalieckas also participated in the meeting.

Both sides expressed satisfaction of the very positive development of the relationship between Israel and Lithuania. It was noted that scheduled direct flight between Tel Aviv and Vilnius, which was inaugurated at the end of 2013, has been very successful, and encouraged the growth of the tourism flows between the countries.

The Israeli minister U.Landau accepted the invitation to join Lithuania's worldwide virtual amber road initiative. Uzi Landau informed Lithuanian side about his intention to pay an official visit to Lithuania this year.

On 11th February Lithuanian Embassy in Israel and Lithuanian State tourism department is organizing Lithuanian tourism event in Tel Aviv, Israel.
