LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR INAUGURATED THE EVENT IN YAD VASHEM DEDICATED TO THE 64TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIQUIDATION OF THE VILNA GHETTO

On 24 September Lithuanian Ambassador Asta Skaisgiryte Liauskiene inaugurated the event in Yad Vashem dedicated to the 64th Anniversary of the liquidation of Vilna Ghetto. During the official part also there were delivered speeches by the Chairman of Yad Vashem Avner Shalev, Chairman of the Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel Joseph Melamed, Chairman of the Association of Jews from Vilna and Vicinity in Israel Michael Schemiavitz. Later the artistic performance of the Vilna choir has been followed by the ceremony of wreaths in commemoration of Holocaust victims in Ponary (Paneriai).

The above-mentioned event was initiated by the Embassy of Lithuania and implemented by the Yad Vashem a worldwide known institution dedicating its efforts to commemorate the victims of the Shoah.
