LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA

On 3 May 2007, Mrs. Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the State of Israel, to the Republic of South Africa and to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, resident in Tel Aviv, presented in Pretoria her letters of credence to the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Thabo Mbeki.
During the conversation Ambassador A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and President T.Mbeki signified that the history of both countries in seeking freedom and independence had a lot in common. During the conversation both sides expressed determination to expand Lithuanian-South African cooperation in the areas of economy, business, investments and culture.
President T.Mbeki conveyed his invitation to the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus to visit the Republic of South Africa.
Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė is the third diplomatic representative of Lithuania to the South Africa.
Lithuania and South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1991.
