LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR VISITED THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE OF ISRAEL
On March 30 Ambassador D. Degutis visited the Olympic Committee of Israel, where he met with the President Zvi Varshaviak and Secretary General Efraim Zinger.
During the meeting close cooperation between the Olympic Committees of Lithuania and Israel and possibility of developing relations between the separate sports federations were discussed.
Representatives of the Olympic Committee of Israel expressed their readiness to provide open air training bases for Lithuanian athletes which are functioning all year round.
Much attention was devoted to discuss preparations for EuroBasket 2011 which will be held in Lithuania in September 2011. As the Israeli national team will participate in the championship it receives a wide coverage in the country.
It was agreed during the meeting that the Embassy together with the Israeli Olympic Committee and the Israeli Basketball Federation will organize a meeting for the legendary Lithuanian basketball player and EuroBasket 2011 ambassador Arvydas Sabonis with Israeli journalists, sports and society representatives.
Ambassador D. Degutis visited, equipped with the latest high technology installations, museum of the Olympic movement of Israel and achievements of Israel's sportsmen at the Olympic Games.
