LITHUANIAN CULTURE WIDELY PROMOTED IN ISRAEL
During last few weeks Lithuanian culture is widely promoted in Israel. On December 6 at the Performing Arts Studio of Tel Aviv, Lithuanian and Israeli actor students delivered a joint performance of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrewd". The students have been rehearsing together for a week at a private Tel Aviv theatre school (The Performing Arts Studio, founded by Yoram Loewenstein), under the project "Crossing Borders: Shakespeare in Hebrew and Lithuanian”. Three directors and seven students from Lithuania, led by their professor Silva Krivickienė, took part in the project.
On 27-30 November in cooperation with the Lithuanian Embassy in Israel, Lithuanian jazz artist, famous saxophonist, together with the legendary Lithuanian-Israeli jazz pianist Slava Ganelin and their partner from Germany, famous drummer Klaus Kugel, performed at the International Jerusalem Jazz Festival “Jazz Globus”. Trio Priority is one of the most respected European contemporary jazz bands.
On 25-26 November famous Lithuanian conductor, artistic director and principal conductor of Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra Gintaras Rinkevičius conducted Jerusalem symphony orchestra in Herzliya and Jerusalem.
To mark the conclusion of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU, a famous Lithuanian jazz band “Jazz 5”, led by a famous jazz musician and composer Leonid Shinkarenko, will perform at the renown Tel Aviv jazz club “Shablul”.
