Lithuanian holocaust victims commemorated in Yad Vashem
On 21 September 2014 Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the State of Israel participated in a commemoration event in Yad Vashem World Holocaust Center and Museum dedicated to pay tribute to the memory of the Lithuanian Jews murdered during the Holocaust and commemorate the 71 years since the liquidation of the Vilnius Ghetto. The ceremony was attended by Holocaust survivors and their families, representatives of Yad Vashem, leaders of Association of Vilna and Vilna vicinity Jews in Israel Beit Vilna, members of the Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel.
Ambassador Edminas Bagdonas expressed the respect for the memory of the victims of the Holocaust noting that HaShoa is one of the most tragic and painful pages in the history of Lithuania. He informed about the Lithuanian Government’s continual efforts to preserve the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and to maintain Jewish history and cultural heritage.
On behalf of the Lithuanian Embassy in Israel ambassador Edminas Bagdonas paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust placing a wreath at the Yad Vashem memorial.
