LITHUANIAN JAZZMEN OPEN JERUSALEM JAZZ FESTIVAL
Yesterday the 7th jazz festival “Jazz-Globus” was opened in Jerusalem by a leading in Europe the free jazz ensemble “Priority” which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The artistic director of the festival, one of the Lithuanian jazz pioneers pianist Viačeslavas Ganelinas, the Lithuanian saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas and the drummer from Germany Klaus Kugel are performing in “Priority”. It gave many successful concerts in dozens of countries; however they are performing in Israel for the first time.
Ambassador of Lithuania in Israel Darius Degutis welcomed participants of the festival and recalled the history of the Lithuanian jazz. Prof. Donatas Katkus, the artistic director and conductor of the Christopher chamber orchestra of the city of Vilnius, participated at the opening of the festival and greeted its organizers and participants.
“Jazz-Globus” will last till 1 December, more than 120 musicians and 28 ensembles will participate in festival’s eight concerts.
