LITHUANIAN LIFE SCIENCE ACHIEVEMENTS ARE HIGHLY VALUED IN ISRAEL
Lithuanian governmental agency “Enterprise Lithuania”together with Lithuanian companies and universities for the third continuous year takes part in one of the world's largest life science exhibitions “MIXiii- BIOMED 2014” which is taking place in Tel Aviv on May 20-22. Among the global leaders, Lithuanian companies „Biotechpharma“, „Biomapas“, „Bioseka“, „Altechna“ and the representatives from Vilnius and Mykolas Riomeris universities are presenting their achievements and products in the national stand.
On 21 May 2014 „Enterprise Lithuania“ together with Lithuanian Embassy in Israel organized the business seminar in which the advantages of Lithuanian life sciences sector and the international forum „Life Sciences Baltics 2014” to be held in Lithuania in September 2014 were presented to Israel’s business, science and media community.
Intensive Lithuanian-Israeli cooperation in the field of life sciences started two years ago when a delegation of 120 businessmen and scientists from Israel attended the first life sciences forum in Vilnius “Life Sciences Baltics 2012”, organized by “Enterprise Lithuania”. A keynote speech at the forum was made by the Nobel Prize winner Israeli Professor Ada E. Yonat, who has roots in Vilnius.
Israeli companies are actively interested in Lithuania – venture capital funds and their companies are interested in investment opportunities, life sciences companies seek cooperation with Lithuanian companies in research, a number of Israeli companies are already conducting clinical trials of innovative products in Lithuania. The agreement on bilateral cooperation in private sector industrial research and development, which was signed between the governments of Israel and Lithuania in 2010, opens up new cooperation opportunities. According to the agreement, joint projects of the Lithuanian – Israeli companies are partially funded by the two states.
