LITHUANIAN MINISTER OF ECONOMY INVITED “TEVA” TO BUILD A NEW PLANT IN LITHUANIA

On Tuesday, 15 June 2010, the Minister of Economy of Lithuania met with the Honorary Consuls of Lithuania in Israel and representatives of Israel-Lithuania Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting spheres of potential future cooperation, investment and export possibilities were discussed.Later the Minister of Economy together with the official and business delegations participated in business forum:”Lithuania to Israel: Innovating. Connecting. Inviting”. Representatives of more than 60 Israeli companies took part at the forum. In his welcome speech to the business forum participants Minister D. Kreivys noted that Israel’s progress in high-tech is an inspiring example to Lithuania. Lithuania’s strategic goal to become a North European innovation hub till 2020 could be implemented only in cooperation with the countries advanced in the sphere of innovations and science. As the Minister pointed out, cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in the spheres of high-tech, biotechnologies, biopharmacy and cleantech could be beneficial to both countries. Lithuania has an expanded infrastructure, convenient geographical position, qualified specialists competence of which quite often exceeds expectations of foreign investors.After the business forum the Minister and accompanying him delegation visited Yad Vashem memorial to express their respect to the victims of Holocaust. 
In the afternoon Minister D. Kreivys visited Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, the biggest Israeli investor in Lithuania, where he had a meeting with the vice-president for global branded products Moshe Manor. The minister invited Teva to expand its research work in Lithuania as well as to build there a new plant.
