MEETING WITH MAYOR OF NETANYA AND REPRESENTATIVES OF “ISRAELITA”
On 15 December 2011 Ambassador D. Degutis had a meeting with the Mayor of Netanya M. Fierberg-Ikar. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the newly formed Israel-Lithuania friendship association "Israelita" J. Katz and other representatives of the association. During the meeting the Ambassador introduced to the Mayor the head of "Israelita" association, informed about “Israelita” activities and aspirations to bridge between Israel and Lithuania. In addition, it was agreed that the official inaugural meeting of "Israelita" association, uniting Lithuanian Jews in Israel, will be held on 16 February 2012 in municipality of Netanya. This gala event which will mark the Day of Independence of Lithuania will be accompanied by the artistic program prepared by the members of "Israelita" - an art photography and paintings showing Lithuania will be demonstrated, a well-known music ensemble „Raganiai“ which started its activity in 1970‘s will perform.
