On 22 July 2010 Ambassador Darius Degutis had a meeting with the Mayor of Netanya. Honorary consul of Lithuanian to Israel Amos Eiran also participated in the meeting.

Mrs. Miriam Fierberg-Ikar, who has a great support among residents, has been a mayor since 1998.

Netanya is a dynamic, rapidly growing city with the population of about 210,000, a popular touristic destination among Israelis.

City is also known in Israel for its industry. Such companies as „Ikea“, „Teva“, „Elbit“, „Celcom“, „Texas instruments“ have their branches in Netanya.

Well-known Wingate Institute, Israel's National Centre for Physical Education and Sport, is also located in Netanya.

During the meeting, ambassador discussed with the Mayor possibilities for cooperation between Netanya and Lithuanian cities.
