MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF ISRAEL

On 10 August 2011 Ambassador of Lithuania Darius Degutis met with the Minister of agriculture and rural development Ms. Orit Noked. Lithuanian honorary consul in Israel Mr. Haim Ariel also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting the potential for bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector was emphasized. Lithuania could benefit from Israeli “know how” and high tech applications in agriculture while Israel could import more Lithuanian products. Lithuania is exporting to Israel wide variety of milk products – cheeses, butter, ice cream, as well as mayonnaise, sweets, beer, other drinks and cattle. Companies of the two countries could cooperate in implementing joint projects. Ambassador invited Israel’s agriculture companies to take part in Israeli business mission to Lithuania, headed by Minister of Trade and Industry Sh. Simchon, on September 21-23.
Minister O. Noked invited her Lithuanian counter partner Minister K. Starkevičius to pay a visit to Israeli with the business delegation. Lithuanian companies are also expected to participate in international exhibitions “Watec” and “Agritech”. Minister O. Noked also expressed her interest to pay a visit to Lithuania.
