MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA R. PALAITIS VISITED THE LITHUANIAN POLICE OFFICER SERVING IN RAMALA

Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania R. Palaitis together with the Deputy Commissioner General of the Lithuanian police Algirdas Stočaitis paid an official visit to the headquarters of the European Union Police mission (EUPOL COPPS) in Ramala, Palestinian Territories.

 

Minister of the Interior and his delegation met the Deputy Head of EUPOL COPPS mission Commissioner Jesper Friedrichsen and Lithuanian police officer serving in Ramala Artūras Šimelionis.

 

The Deputy Head of the EUPOL COPPS mission acquainted the Minister R. Palaitis with the activity of the mission, presented the ongoing long-term programmes in the police sphere, told him about the achievements of the mission, highly estimated both by the leaders of the Palestinian Territories and the Government of Israel.


The Lithuanian officer serving in the EU mission A. Šimelionis presented to the Minister R. Palaitis the projects related to the improvement of the Palestinian police patrol system which are being implemented, informed him about everyday activities of the mission and introduced police officers from other countries working in the mission.

 

The Lithuanian delegation‘s visit in Israel lasts 3 days. Today minister R. Palaitis met the  Public Security minister of Israel Yitzhak Aharonovitch, and during this meeting the Joint Declaration on promoting the co-operation and concrete measures on knowledge and experience exchange was signed between the ministries of Lithuania and Israel responsible for public security. Minister of the Interior of LT also attended the 1st Israel HLS international conference.
