Dear President of the Lithuanian Jewish Community Mr. Simonas Alperavičius,
Dear Jews of Lithuania and Litvaks of the world,
Let me extend my greetings to the Lithuanian Jewish community and Litvaks all over the world on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, a beautiful and meaningful holyday and a New Year 5772.
I rejoice in the fact, that contemplating together the history of the world and of the Jewish people, which left indelible traces in Lithuanian soil and culture, we welcome the future in the spirit of amity and peace.
In all the countries I had the honor to represent Lithuania it is the Jerusalem of Lithuania, known in the world as glorious Yerushalaim da Lita, which makes our country famous for.
I am sure, that a strong, vibrant and spiritual Lithuanian Jewish Community in free Lithuania, maintaining close ties to our brothers and sisters Litvaks, will preserve the unique heritage and Litvak identity, contribute to the prosperity of native Lita today and in the future.
Being a Member of Parliament elected by all citizens of Lithuania, Minister of Foreign Affairs devoted to my country, I am personally committed to make sure that our present life is not obscured by shadows of the past and to work for the people of Lithuania, irrespective of their religion, nationality or personal beliefs.
Let the sonorous sound of shofar awaken us all for new achievements, let the Book of Life of every man awaiting for the celebrations be inscribed with all the noble deeds. Let our aim to make Lithuania and the whole world a peaceful and prosperous place be achieved.
