Minister of the Interior of LT R. Palaitis and Public Security Minister of Israel Yitzhak Aharonovitch signed the cooperation declaration seeking to strengthen the Lithuanian-Israeli contacts while ensuring public security.
„Essential agreement between our countries – to develop and strengthen co-operation in combating illicit trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, organized crime, illegal immigration and trafficking in human beings. Both Lithuania and Israel having enough experience and knowledge in these fields, it is bilaterally useful to unite our forces seeking for greater security not only in our countries, but all over the world“, Minister of the Interior of LT R. Palaitis said.
The Ministers stressed the necessity to take concrete measures seeking to promote the cooperation and information exchange in the fields of their competence, also to coordinate the activity and cooperation of relevant national institutions, responsible for ensuring public security, while exchanging knowledge and experience. The Ministers also agreed on the necessity to organize joint meetings, lectures and seminars on the issues of public security.
R. Palaitis invited his Israeli counterpart to pay a visit to Lithuania.
Minister of the Interior of LT R. Palaitis today also will visit Ramala where he is going to meet the Lithuanian police officer Artūras Šimelionis serving in the European Union mission.
Yesterday Minister of the Interior of LT R. Palaitis attended the 1st Israel HLS international conference.
