Lithuania’s Ministry of Finance sees national GDP growth of 5.8 % this year and 4.7 % in 2012. Its latest forecasts, made in September, had been 2.8 % and 1.2 %, respectively.
“Lithuania's exports have shown a very strong growth in recent months, and prospects of export markets have remained stable. The Ministry of Finance therefore sees stronger growth,” the Ministry said.
Exports of Lithuania, whose two main export partners are Russia and Germany, are expected to grow 22 % in 2011.
The Ministry has also cut the budget deficit forecast for 2011 from 5.8 % to 5.3 % of the GDP.
