ON 18 FEBRUARY 2009 THE MEETING OF ISRAELI AND LITHUANIAN INTELLECTUALS TOOK PLACE

On 18 February 2009 Lithuanian intellectuals prof. L.Donskis, prof. Irena Veisaitė and prof. S.Sužiedėlis in IDC Herzliya Global Research Center in International Affairs (GLORIA) had a meeting with a director of the center prof. B.Rubin and other professors of the GLORIA center. The aim of the meeting was to prepare for the Lithuanian –Israeli forum of intellectuals.

During the meeting Lithuanian and Israeli intellectuals discussed the failure of communist regimes, Western values and identity, nationhood, statehood, leadership, democracy and other issues of mutual interest.

It was agreed to continue cooperation and to organize a forum of Lithuanian and Israeli intellectuals in the fall of this year.
