Oskaras Koršunovas/Vilnius City Theater will participate in Israel Festival, Jerusalem, which will take place on 26 May-10 June, 2010. On May 30 and 31 Oskaras Koršunovas/Vilnius City Theater will show W.Shakespeare’s “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in Sherover Hall of Jerusalem Theater.
The main credo of the theater’s repertoire may be expressed by the following words: to stage classics as if it was modern dramaturgy and modern dramaturgy – as if it was classics. Performances staged by Oskaras Koršunovas have been shown on the main stages and festivals in France, Germany, Italy, Scandinavian and other countries, they have received numerous international awards.
“A midsummer Night’s Dream” – a modern performance of the classical play produced by minimal means. However, the minimalism of means creates an impression of total theater in which nothing is impossible. The director of the performance is seeking the spectator not to form any preconceived opinions but just give vent to the imagination.
Oskaras Koršunovas himself is both the choreographer and set designer of the performace, the actors both play, sing and perform gymnastic elements.
