REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EMBASSY OF LITHUANIA IN ISRAEL PAID TRIBUTE TO THE HOLOCAUST VICTIMS
On 19 April 2012 representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the State of Israel attended the event to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust - Jewish residents of Lithuania who lost their lives during the World War II in Paneriai. The commemoration ceremony was organized by the Association of Vilna and Vilna vicinity Jews in Israel Beit Vilna. The event took place in Kiriath Shaul cemetery in Tel Aviv. The event was also attended by head of the Beit Vilna M. Szemiavitz, the children of the survivors H. Shilo and Z. Levitan hold the speeches.
The memory of the Holocaust victims was also honored in Vilnius by the presence of Deputy Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament C. Jursenas, a member of the Lithuanian Parliament E. Zingeris, Minister of Culture A. Gelūnas, Israeli Minister of Energy and Water Resources, U. Landau, members of the Lithuanian Jewish community, and participants of the fourth "March of the Living”.
