SEVENTEEN BEST LITHUANIAN STARTUPS AIM TO ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIP WITH ISRAEL
On 15 October 2013 Ambassador Darius Degutis opened a Lithuanian startup event in Tel Aviv. More than 70 Israeli investors and entrepreneurs came to meet delegation of 30 Lithuanian businessmen representing startups and venture capital industry. Ambassador D. Degutis welcomed such an active participation of young Lithuanian businessmen and stressed that Israel is the very right place for startups. This event, as Ambassador noted, will significantly contribute to further growth of Lithuanian-Israeli partnership.
Tel Aviv with its DLD Innovation festival was chosen as one of the main stop of the Roadshow, because Israel is stated as the second best destination for Startups in the world after the Silicon Valley in the 2012 rating of the organization “Startup Genome”. Lithuanian startups, operating in the fields of finance, healthcare, 3D technologies and others, see a huge potential in partnership between Israel and Lithuania.
“Recently Lithuanian startups have been refocusing from quantity to quality. The state is not only witnessing the development of mobile entertainment applications, but also of innovative solutions aimed at improving the quality of life. Ventures capital funds, business accelerators operating in Lithuania and regular educative events provide a favourable environment for new startups from foreign countries. Even the project “Startup Lithuania Roadshow” involves Italians and an African resident, who have registered their business in Lithuania,” Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship of the governmental agency “Enterprise Lithuania” Dovydas Varkulevičius told the audience.
The event in Tel Aviv is a part of the “Startup Lithuania Roadshow” project - the first ever organized hunt for foreign investors and partnership opportunities. Before coming to Tel Aviv, Lithuanian startups have already visited Stockholm. Afterwards Lithuanian startups are heading to Berlin on 27-30th of October and to London on 3-6th of December.
The project participants pursue an ambitious goal – to attract €11 million of foreign investment and to present the Lithuanian startups ecosystem to foreign countries. The startup event in Tel Aviv was organized by “Enterprise Lithuania” and Lithuanian Embassy in Israel.
