Žygimantas Pavilionis, Rihards Kols and Marko Mihkelson, chairmen of the foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, came to Israel on a solidarity visit. Baltic parliamentarians took part in the ceremonial opening of the winter session of the Knesset, met Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and visited Yad Vashem memorial center. After a meeting with Yoel Edelstein, chairman of the Knesset Foreign and Defense Affairs Committee, a joint statement by Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Israel was signed, expressing strong support for Israel fighting Hamas terrorists and drawing attention to Russia's illegal war in Ukraine. At the invitation of Y. Edelstein, the representatives of Baltic Parliaments together with the ambassadors of their countries, visited the kibbutzim and their communities, which suffered from the terrorist attacks of Hamas on October 7th.
Ž. Pavilionis, R. Kols and M. Mihkelson were the first representatives of foreign national parliaments to come to Israel to assess the situation and to express support and solidarity with the Jewish people fighting terrorism.
