THE LITHUANIAN DELEGATION HEADED BY THE MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR R. PALAITIS TAKES PART IN THE CONFERENCE IN ISRAEL

On 31 October 2010 the Minister R. Palaitis and the representatives of the Ministry of the Interior took part in the opening ceremony of the Conference on Homeland Security, which was held in Israel for the first time.

During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Interior R. Palaitis met the Minister of Defence E. Barak and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour B. Ben-Eliezer.

During the conversation with E. Barak, the Ministers stressed the importance of challenges in ensuring internal security of the states, as well as the guidelines of cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in this sphere. E. Barak expressed his warm feelings towards the Lithuanian origin of his family, and its strong relations with Lithuania, especially Panevėžys.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour highly assessed mutual cooperation in the filed of economics and continuously growling interest of business representatives of both countries in Lithuania and Israel.

B. Ben-Eliezer informed R. Palaitis about his scheduled visit together with group of business representatives of Israel to Lithuania in the beginning of 2011.

Today the Lithuanian delegation has visited Jerusalem where they honoured victims of the Holocaust at the Yad Vashem memorial.
