THE PRESIDENT RECEIVED LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM ISRAELI AMBASSADOR

Monday, November 7, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the State of Israel, Hagit Ben-Yaakov.
Dalia Grybauskaitė and the Ambassador discussed the aspects of economic, political and cultural cooperation of both countries. The President urged to strengthen bilateral relations in research, technology development, and tourism.
The issues discussed during the meeting also included the Middle East peace process and the Israel-Iran relations. According to the President, Lithuania supports peaceful settlement of conflicts.
The 43-year-old Ambassador, who holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Middle East and history studies, in the course of her diplomatic career served in the Israeli embassies in Philippines and Turkey. Six years from 2003, the diplomat held the post of the Director of the Centre for Political Research at the Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the period 2009-2011, she was a political adviser to the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Hagit Ben-Yaakov is Israel's sixth ambassador to Lithuania. The diplomat resides in Riga.
