UNICEF GOODWILL AMBASSADOR'S JULIAN RACHLIN CHARITY EVENING IN TEL AVIV
On 22 December 2011 Embassy of Lithuania in cooperation with UNICEF office in Israel held a charity concert by the world renowned, Lithuanian born violinist J. Rachlin.
This gala evening, reflecting the Christmas and Chanuka spirit, was held at the home of the prominent Israeli businessman Michael Strauss. M. Strauss is widely recognized for his philanthropic activities. He is one of the most active sponsors of the UNICEF.
Ambassador of Lithuania D. Degutis told the guests about the unique, constantly cherished Jewish cultural heritage and the revival of Chanuka celebration traditions in Lithuania. D. Degutis introduced the former director of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic P. Mendelson, thanks to whom Lithuania has educated a number of world famous musicians. J. Rachlin spoke about his UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador’s activities, various projects, described a special project accomplished together with the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre dedicated for the funds collection for construction of children school in Afghanistan.
In his spectacular performance J. Rachlin was accompanied by his mother Sophia Rachlin.
