VISIT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAIFA

On April 12, 2007 the Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel Mrs. Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė visited the University of Haifa. The Ambassador met with Prof. Aaron Ben-Ze’ev, President of the University of Haifa, Dr.Faisal Azaiza, Head of the Jewish-Arab Center, Prof. Hanan Alexander, Head of the Center for Jewish Education as well as Dr. Rachel Rojanski, expert on the Yiddish culture. The possibilities of bilateral cooperation with the Lithuanian universities in the fields of civic society education and Yiddish studies were discussed at the meetings.
The University of Haifa was established in 1972. It hosts 6 faculties and more than 16 thousand students (20 percent – minorities). The University is reputed for providing a high level education programs especially in the fields of law, social and humanitarian studies.
