VISIT OF THE VICE-MINISTER OF ECONOMY OF LITHUANIA TO ISRAEL

On 16 March 2010 Vice-minister of Economy of Lithuania Mindaugas Petrauskas participated in Israel business forum „Doing business in Lithuania and Latvia“organized by the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute and Israel-Lithuania Chamber of Commerce. At the forum Vice- minister of Economy Mindaugas Petrauskas presented Lithuania as innovation and technology hub in the Baltic Sea region. More than 50 Israeli businessmen participated at the forum.

On March 17 the Vice-minister of Economy of Lithuania met with B. Ben-Eliezer, Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor of Israel. During the meeting promotion of bilateral economic cooperation, especially in the spheres of high and biotechnologies were discussed as well as the visit of the Minister of Economy of Lithuania to Israel. B. Ben-Eliezer indicated that taking into account the growing interest of Israeli businessmen in Lithuania and other Baltic countries Israel is planning to send a business mission to Lithunia in the second half of this year.

 

The Vice-minister has also visited the headquarters of suceesfully in Lithuania operating Israeli telecommunications company Alvarion Ltd. and pharmaceutical company Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and had meetings with their CEO-s. He also met with the Lithuanian Honorary Consuls in Israel and Chairman of Israel-Lithuania Chamber of Commerce Len Judes.
