Visit to Ponevezh Yeshiva

On 8 December the Ambassador of Lithuania to Israel Lina Antanavičienė visited the world-famous Ponevezh Yeshiva, founded in 1904 in Panevėžys, Lithuania.

One of the leaders of this educational institution, Rabbi Elezier Kahaneman, whose grandfather was the original founder of this religious school, kindly agreed to tell about the history of yeshiva, its Lithuanian links, everyday life and even to walk along with the ambassador on the nearby street, named after Ukmergė town (Vilkomir), from which the rabbi's family has originated!
