VISIT TO THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM
On November 22, 2007 the Lithuanian ambassador to Israel Mrs. Asta Skaisgiryte Liauskiene visited the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to meet the Rector of the University Professor Haim D. Rabinowitch as well as senior researchers from the Institute of Contemporary Jewry. The possibilities of cooperation between the HUJ and the Lithuanian universities were discussed at the meetings. The representatives of the Institute expressed special interest in bilateral programs and students’ exchange with the Vilnius University based Center of Oriental Studies.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was founded in 1925 by the leaders of world Jewry including the University’s founding father, Dr.Chaim Weizmann. Nowadays it comprises 7 faculties and 15 schools as well as the Jewish National and University Library.
