WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS APPRECIATES COOPERATION WITH LITHUANIA
On 23 December 2013 Lithuanian Ambassador in Israel Darius Degutis received the Chief Executive Officer of the World Jewish Congress Robert Singer and its Executive Director in Israel Sam Grundwerg. During the meeting the guests told that Lithuania’s actions in preserving historical and cultural heritage of the Lithuanian Jewish community as well as adoption of the law on Good Will Compensation for the immovable Property of Jewish Religious Communities are highly appreciated. R. Singer also expressed the willingness of the World Jewish Congress to support and develop ongoing projects in Lithuania which are of utmost importance to the Lithuanian Jewish community.
D. Degutis expressed his appreciation that bilateral relations between Lithuania and Israel are very good, trade, tourism is growing and cultural ties are expanding. Lithuania and Israel maintain very close relations in the international organizations.
R. Singer extended greetings to Lithuania for its successful EU Presidency and becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
