In July 2010 Lithuanian yachtsmen are making historical journey in the Mediterranean Sea which reconstructs the pilgrim journey of Mikalojus Radvilas, a nobleman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, to the Holy Land in the year 1583-1584. The sailing is devoted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Restoration of Lithuania’s Independence.

“Gold of Lithuania” yachtsmen are planning to raise Lithuanian national flag of 40 sq.meters in 17 Mediterranean Sea ports. Their aim is to propagate Lithuania’s name abroad, to promote business and people to people contacts. The yachtsmen have meetings with local authorities of the port cities as well as with citizens of Lithuania residing there.

The yachting expedition “Gold of Lithuania” is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Vilnius city municipality, Enterprise Lithuania.

On 19 July 2010 the Lithuanian yacht will come to Haifa port. The same day Lithuanian yachtsmen will have a meeting with Haifa municipality representatives. On 20 July the yacht will dock at Herzliya marina.
