ZECHARIA PLAVIN AND RAIMONDAS BUTVILA PERFORMED AT SAPIR COLLEGE
On 25 October 2011, Sapir College in Sderot hosted two well-known musicians of Lithuanian origin, dr. Zecharia Plavin (piano) and prof. Raimundas Butvilas (violin), as well as Levon Mouradian (cello). It was not the first joint project in Israel by Lithuanian violinist Butvilas and Lithuanian-born Plavin.
Zecharia Plavin and Raimundas Butvilas were born and raised in Lithuania. Prof. Butvilas is the head of Colegio Emil Friedman Conservatory at Caracas University in Venezuela, and musicologist dr. Z. Plavin teaches at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Both artists are the participants and laureates of various international competitions.
Levon Mouradian is the famous cellist of Armenian origin, a professor and a laureate of many international competitions.
